Do Good in the Community

To the hard-working Ignitist team, “Do Good” means caring for vulnerable people the best way we know how – by matching them with better healthcare to help them live their best lives. In our world, we support and uplift the dual-eligible population by connecting them with DSNPs. That being said, we know that life-changing health plans are only a piece of the puzzle. The dual-eligible population shares a lot of struggles, but they’re also very diverse, and no one knows community health needs better than the community. With this in mind, Ignitist makes donations to community-oriented organizations that provide necessary services to neighbors in need. Let’s talk about two of them today!

Feed More is an organization dedicated to combatting food insecurity in Central Virginia. A collaborative effort between the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels, Feed More collects, prepares, and distributes food throughout their service area. According to their website, 1 in 9 individuals in their service area is food insecure, and 1 in 6 children is not eating enough. That’s where they come in – caring individuals helping their neighbors put food on the table! Ignitist connects with their mission, as food insecurity disproportionately affects the lives and health of dual-eligible beneficiaries, especially seniors. A Humana-sponsored NextAvenue article discusses this, as well as how food assistance can lead to better health outcomes for dual-eligibles. Learn more about their mission here.

Another organization Ignitist supports is Partners in Care. Partners in Care is a Maryland-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping seniors live independently in the community. They have locations in four Maryland communities, and their services range from car rides, to basic home maintenance, to community engagement! There are a few reasons Ignitist connects with the mission of Partners in Care. For one, isolation is common in seniors, moreso since the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020, and their programs such as “Phone Buddies” and regularly-meeting community groups help to combat this. Additionally, aging in place is linked to better health outcomes for seniors, and many of the services provided by Partners in Care are vital to older adults maintaining their freedom and living independently. Ignitist remains committed to improving the lives of dual-eligible individuals both in and outside of the insurance world. We at Ignitist are confident that Feed More and Partners in Care will make the most of our donation to the benefit of their communities. The necessary services they provide change the lives of those they serve, and we are proud to help them carry out their missions. We can Do Good for more people when we work together!
